This photoshoot was our one last hoorah before we all depart for the next year and a half. If you didn't know, Suzanne is leaving on a mission to Rome, Italy May 26th and Lanae is leaving for a performing mission in Nauvoo at the beginning of May and will be gone for 4 months so it's going to be a while before we are together again. This year has seriously been one of my favorite years here at school. Us 4 girls got so close, even closer than we had already been before, since we had lived with each other for 2 years previous to this school year. I love these girls so much and I'm going to miss being all together. We created a sisterhood that will never be broken. These pictures were taken in front of our dear house. We love the house and the ward we're in and we developed some good times here. It only makes sense that we would take the pictures in front of "da howse" as we like to call it.

Clogging Final

So this is finals week. Suzanne and I took a clogging class together this semester and for our clogging final we had to choreograph and perform a one and a half minute clogging dance. This is our final! It was so fun to choreograph together. Suz and I work well together. The story of our dance is that we are two love struck little girls who love all boys basically. It was really fun to perform. I'm going to write what we say b/c it's kind of hard to hear.

Hare Krishna COLOR FEST

This weekend we went to the Indian temple in Spanish Fork for the festival of colors...this event is HUGE!! There was more than 20,000 people that attended. People came from all over!! It was crazy! Basically what happens is everyone gets a bunch of colored chalk and throws it at each other. Yup, that's it...that's what everyone comes for! But it's amazing!!! Here's the pics!

On our way to the festival...we had to park far away and walk a great distance to get there because there was so many cars...traffic was crazy!

I found some play-do on the side of the road...it was still in it's case...so I picked it up and played with it on the walk over. Everyone made fun of me for it!

This is Andy...Andy is our friend...he comes over all the time...basically Andy is one of the girls...he grew up with 8 sisters...now he has 6 girlfriends...He comes with us every where...he's even coming with us on our girl's camp out trip (I told him the only way he could go with us is if he brought his own tent)...yup, this is Andy

Ok let me just say that at one point on this little adventure I thought I was going to die...literally my life flashed before my eyes. It was crazy! So let me just preface this. There's one point where everyone crowded together and threw their chalk up in the air at the same time. With more than a 1,000 people pressed together in a crowd and us being in the dead center...I couldn't breath guys!!!! It was scary! And it went pitch black when everyone threw their chalk up. It was a rather frightening experience. But it all turned out ok. I'm still alive and breathing.

This Is Definitely a Good News Minute Moment...

You guys!!! I have great news! I made SPAC!! Yay! For those of you who don't know what SPAC is, which I assume is everyone, it is the back up folk dance team! This was a big deal to me! I've been auditioning for things like this for the past year and a half, and I'm finally making my way up in the world. Next I'm going to make the touring team! That's the next item on my list! I'm so happy I made it guys! I was beaming all day yesterday when I found out. I found out at our huge folk dance rehearsal where like all 200 members of the folk dance club members were. People kept coming up and congratulating me at the practice and I was like what are they congratulating me for? And then I found out! It was great! So this Winter semester we will start rehearsing and then the first 3 weeks of spring term, we'll go out and tour all over Utah and perform at different elementary schools. I'm very excited to perform for these little kids! Kids are so fabulous! In honor of this moment, I am going to post a very revealing and applicable photo that shows my dedication and diligence to dance. This photo was donated to me by my loving sister Liza! I auditioned for the dance major just this past Friday. This is a huge deal if you didn't know! It's something I've been waiting for for 2 years now. So it was a bit of a nerve racking experience. For the audition they took us into a room where there was a long panel of "judges". Actually they were just the full time faculty members at BYU so I knew almost all of them (except for the Ballroom and Ballet teachers, but they only made up a small portion of the 15-20 teachers). It was kind of intimidating. We learned a ballet, modern, ballroom, and folk routine for the first part of the audition. We danced all of them for the teachers. From there we waited to hear if we had been given a call back or not. After about an hour I found out I made a call back! I was so happy! For the call backs, we were to perform a one minute solo for the teachers. This was a solo that we were to have had choreographed before the audition. I choreographed my solo. It's actually one that I have been working on for a while...or at least thinking about for a while. I put a lot of thought into it. It all started last year in my creative workshop class. We went to the art museum here on campus and our assignment was to receive inspiration for a dance from one of the paintings. The painting that I chose was one of Christ. I forget the title of the piece, but it's of Christ and he is lifting up a tent door looking inside to the man hiding in there. It's a very touching piece. I thought about it for a while and this is my inspiration. My piece that I choreographed for the major auditions is about the comfortless person in need of healing and then them receiving that healing through Christ. It was a really cool experience to be able to choreograph something like this. Like I said, I've been thinking about this for a long time. I'm glad I finally finished it, but I don't think this is the last of this piece. The piece was only allowed to be a minute long due to the great amount of people that would be auditioning, so it's not that long. I really want to take it to greater heights later and maybe expound on it. We'll see. For right now it's really short, so I hope you enjoy it. Remember to keep in mind what the piece is about as you watch it, and I think it will mean a lot more to you.

P.S. - I don't know if I made it into the major yet. I'm still waiting to find out, but I feel like I did my best. I'll keep you posted about that.

We Are Women...we CAMP!!

So my roommates and I have this awesome list! You see, this list is a list of things to do before the summer ends. It was a really great invention! It helps us to do the things we always say we want to do but never do. So now that we invented this list, we actually do the things on it!! It's amazing...It's visionary...it's brilliant...it's...it's...why didn't I think of it??? Well, I'm glad to be among such great minds who think of things like this b/c it makes life just that much more interesting! One thing on our list of accomplishments was camping! Now what a womanly activity that was! We are quite an accomplished batch of girls now if you ask me. We made a fire, set up a tent, cooked our food on the fire, told stories with a flash light...it was a legit camp out! And it probably was the best weekend that was had this summer! Loved it!

We kind of started the camp out off on a little bit of a sour note. It took us 2 hours to find the camp site when it was only supposed to take 25 minutes due to some faulty directions and various detours...but that didn't stop us. We still enjoyed ourselves!!

As many of you know, my birthday was last week. All I have to say is I have the best roommates in the whole entire world. They threw me a themed party!! We've been really into these themed parties lately. Our newest idea is a little out there, but I can see it being really big...it has the potential. On the 20th of July,we plan to have a Space party because that is the anniversary of the U.S. landing on the moon. I know, I know...you think it's brilliant right?! Anyways, back to my birthday. They threw me and the twins (our roommates who's birthday was 5 days before mine) a cowboy and indian party!! So cooool! I loved it!

Martial Arts...uhhh cool I guess

So...I'm here...at school...at BYU...this summer. You gotta love BYU in the summer! It is a lot of fun...and pretty chill if you ask me. Well, it was pretty chill spring term, which we just finished up. Now I'm going into summer term and I have quite a bit more on my hands, but I'll do my best to make it as chill of a summer term as I can. Summer's the time for play, not school...right?? Ya, Ya, who says that anymore. Not me!!! Oh well, it's for the best! I really do enjoy school...just not all the papers and the readings and the tests and homework and quizes...do you catch my drift?? So I like school, but I don't. This summer I'm taking 6 classes. When I tell people that they always look at me with wide eyes and exclaim, "Wow! That's a lot!" This is how I respond. "Well I'm kind of used to taking so many classes. Being a dance major requires you to spend much time in classes that offer little credit hours. That's okay though b/c I enjoy it...or else I wouldn't be doing it!" And that's how I respond.
So I guess a lot of the time though I really don't have to take so many classes. Although what I said is true, I do get gypped with the credit hour thing in my major, but I think I also just like to learn different things. As if trying out for the tennis team or the basketball team or running track wasn't enough to satisfy my craving to try new things. I still got it team! I keep finding myself wanting to experience new arts...and when I say arts I mean anything that requires you to learn. So this semester, one of my new experiences was to try martial arts. Haaa!!! Funny right?! I had no idea what martial arts was...well I did, but I had no idea what to expect I guess. I saw the class and was like "hey, martial arts, that sounds cool!", and then I added it. That's the thing I love about personalities like mine. It's just so interesting to try some of the things that I don't even think twice about trying. You get yourself in some real interesting situations if you ask me. For some reason I just thought it was going to be tricks or kicking my legs at an opponent or playing with swords or something...obviously I knew I didn't know exactly what to expect, but usually I don't really think about what it is that I won't expect until I actually get myself rapped up in the situation. So when that situation came around (the first day of class), I found myself walking out feeling very sheepish and laughing at myself and what I had done. Well first of all it was a class full of almost all boys, so that made me feel kind of embarrassed! Gotta love martial arts though that's all I have to say. Okay here's the thing...it is full on fighting guys!!! Like wrestling...on the ground, laying on top of your opponent, pinning them, smashing yourself in their face!! Wow, was I surprised when I walked out. Our instructor even mention something about how we will be choking each other and possibly passing out and how we have to "tap out" if we find ourselves passing out. I didn't even know what that meant, "taping out", until I came to class that day, but apparently a lot of boys know what that means. Anyways, it's all fun and games, right? Ya, I'll say so...I'm going to have a lot of fun in this class, I can already tell. It's been pretty interesting so far. There's 4 other girls in the class and we all take turns pinning each other and so on. Good times, good times! When I was in China I did have the opportunity to see Martial artists first hand. I think that's probably why martial arts caught my eye on the class lists. Obviously, I forgot all the fighting I saw there and just remembered seeing all the cool tricks I saw. Haha, ya I now am going to be a fighting/wrestling queen!!..............Bahaha!

So I did have a funny experience the other day. I encountered a very competitive "fighter" girl the first day of class. We were supposed to be working slowly on a move that the teacher just taught us and the girl I was working with got a little scared I think when I was pulling the move on her and she jumped the gun and put me in a head lock really fast. That was a lot of fun!

Classic Skating Rules!!!!!

This weekend was probably the greatest of my life. Maybe that was a bit of an overstatement but I do believe it was fun filled and jammed packed full of good times. Seriously though, the weekend never stopped for me, it was busy but fun! I'll give a brief overview of it. Friday : 1) I had a tap performance with the tap dance company that I'm involved with here at BYU. We performed at an elementary school here in Provo. It was great! The little kids loved us. 2) I had a dinner reunion with my lovely study abroad friends. We had the reunion in light of the earthquake which happened exactly a year ago from this past Tuesday. We ate at a pretty nice Chinese restaurant...nothing like the authentic Chinese food we had though. It was great to be able to get back together with them. I miss all of them so much! I felt a little out of place because all of the girls that ended up showing to the reunion are either married, pregnant, or dating someone pretty seriously...and they all brought their men!! Ya, now you know why I felt a little out of place. But that's okay because we all still let the good times roll. 3) Then I went home to our back porch party that we had. As some of you may know I moved out this semester to a house that has a pretty large back porch. My roommates and I decided that this back porch is too great to not make any use out of it so we've decided that we are going to keep throwing these parties because it was great! We had a pretty good turn out and we met a lot of new people. Here' a picture of our fabulous back porch!

Saturday: 1) I picked up a few extra hours at work. Not too exciting but I made some extra money. 2) The best part of my weekend starts now! My next door neighbors and my roommates and I went to DI and bought outfits. Now these weren't just any type of outfits. These were disco/80's outfits to be worn later that night. Let me tell you, good times at DI, good times! We found some amazing items. I think I had the best find. Well...just scroll down to see. You'll know what I'm talking about. 3) And drum roll please!!! The moment we have all been waiting for! To top the weekend off we made our way over to the Classic Skating arena for Disco/80's night! It was the best! We wore our outfits, put on some roller skates, and had a ball! I documented this event quite well (Mom, you'll be proud of me). Actually, the outfit I had kind of qualified me to be the mother of our happy little classic skating group, so I just told everyone I had to document because I was the mom and that's what mom's do right? haha! Anyways, you will see from our family pictures that I was pretending to be the mom. I kept all my kids in line at the arena. Don't worry, no broken bones, just happy faces. So ya, now you can look at my amazing pictures. Pictures say a thousand words and these one definitely do! It was so much fun!

Today Is a Special Day!!

Today is a special day. Can anyone guess? Seeming since everyone is here on this earth, they all should have reason to be celebrating today also. It's Mother's Day!!! I feel like I need to give a little props to all the Moms out there...Props to all you mothers out there who sacrifice so much!! Motherhood is not an easy job. Whoever said that the woman who gives up a job or an education to become a mother is looking for the easy way out...they don't know what they are talking about! Not that I'm experienced in this area, I just know from watching my own mother and my own siblings raise their children how hard but rewarding the job can be. I'm sure it's better than any job that any person could take. It's not for whimps!
At church today we talked a lot about mothers. I think most of us did...and I'm sure most of us heard a lot of the same things. Things like Motherhood is a divinely appointed position. Mom's are knowledgeable. Mom's love their children so much and through that love their children more accurately learn how their Heavenly Father loves them. Mothers help their children come closer to Christ by their example. And many more things. Through all these speakers I had time to reflect on the things my own mother has done for me. Let me tell ya...I love my mom so much! I hope that some day I can be at least half the lady she is. She has taught me so much! I feel like I should be able to say a lot more about her and what she has done for me, but I can't. Words can't express how much my mom has done for me and how much I love her. I know I chose her to be my mom for a reason in the pre-mortal life. We get along like two peas in a pod. I knew I would learn so much from her. She had to be one of my best friends when I chose her because she is one of my best friends right now. Mom's definitely have a unique role and I'm so grateful for my own mother. I glad it worked out the way it did. She's the greatest! So here's to all the moms out there, especially one in particular! I love my mom!!

I had a grand old time with Alissa, Andrew, Talon, and Lisa this Easter! Seriously though...it was a lot of fun! I met Andrew and Alissa at their apartment and then we went to Talon and Lisa's for dinner (if you don't know who Talon and Lisa are they are some of Andrew and Alissa's friends that we eat dinner with every once and a while). Lisa and Talon were great and hid Easter eggs for everyone to find, which ended up being just Andrew and I because we got so excited that we ran through the house before anyone else could and found all the Easter eggs. I'm rich now everyone! I found an egg full of pennies...that's right full to the brim with pennies! Man, am I one lucky girl! Actually I think Andrew stole my eggs so he now has all my money (Dang it!). Anyways, dinner was superb! We had lots of good stuff! And then Alissa and Andrew gave us our Easter baskets! They are too kind, too kind! I loved my basket! My favorite part though was the kite! Yes...I received a Dora the Explorer kite from my favorite brother named Andrew (my other favorite brother is named Zach!). So cool!!! Andrew also got Alissa and himself a kite so we went and flew them! It was so fun! I was telling Andrew that I think the last time I flew a kite was when I was like 9 years old and Dad got me a Sailor Moon kite, Andrew a Pepsi kite, and Zach some cool kite that I can't remember. Anyways that pretty much made my day. Then Alissa, Lisa, and I played frisbee while the boys went in and played the Nintendo Wee. And then we went in to join them. I took a few pictures, but the best pictures I don't have! Man! We took some sweet pictures with Lisa's camera while we were outside playing in the grass like little kids. I'll have to get those sometime and post them. Alissa and I did some sweet jumps in our pictures! So here are the poopie pictures anyways.

This was the best group of kids to get together and create a music video with b/c they were all so into it! It was so fun! What Will Mary Say Next?

So Suzanne and I...ya know, we've been livin' together for quite sometime now. We pretty much know all about each other by now. We're planning on living together again next year! That will make 3 solid years together by the time next year is done. Anyways, by now, you should know, that it is very well discussed between the two of us how much I like to talk in my sleep. It seems like every other morning Suzanne walks into the bathroom while I'm getting ready and says to me with sleepy eyes and messy hair, "You were talking in your sleep again last night" and then she proceeds to tell me what I said. My sleep talking has gotten pretty out of control if you ask me. Most of the time I just talk in jiberish, but occasionally I say something that sounds pretty coherent and Suzanne has to think twice before she realizes that I really am sleep talking and not awake talking. Usually when I say something, it's only a few words at a time. Like I've been found to say things like "Peeeee" or "Becky" or "Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays, birthdays". These things don't make any sense!!! Who knows what message am I trying to get across or even if I am trying to get a message across?! If only I had some kind of sleep talking decoder maybe I could figure out what messages are flying through my head as I sleep. Anyways, a few nights ago this is what Suzanne tells me I had to say. Restfully I move around in my sleep and in a very mumbled tone I say, "You're the top tops". Suzanne proceeds to ask me what I said because she couldn't totally understand. So I sit up in my sleep and say, "I just think you're the top" and then I lay back down. Man, those are wise words...wise words! Suzanne was really appreciative about what I said though. I think I touched her with my kind words. I really hope that my sleep talking doesn't get as bad as to me starting to spill the beans now...like my true feelings on love!!! Because heaven forbid if any of my roommates find out that I really do have a crush on George Bailey from "It's a Wonderful Life" or Bert from "Mary Poppins"! Oops! Did I just say that out loud. So I guess what I'm trying to do now is pose the question "what other weird things will Mary say next"???

One Freakin' Amazing Sale!!!

Today my roommates and I woke up bright and early (okay that is just a phrase...we really didn't wake up bright and early...try 9:30) and hit a sweet sale that was happening at Provo High School! Shade clothing was having a sale! Everything was $5! It was awesome! As you can tell from my picture, I was able to find various items of pleasure! I bought 11 shirts! I splurged! ahhh! Oh well, they all were of necessity and I they are all very versatile! I can wear them with many things! So I just thought I would let you in on my happy shopping day!

I Got a Hair Cut! Finally!

Alright, so I found something to post about! I just got back from getting a hair cut with Alissa! She did a great job! She took a Beast and turned it into a Beauty! Good job sister! Anyways, just thought I would share. It's a lot thinner and it smells good too (for right now anyways). I haven't had a hair cut for a long long time; it was about time!

Hi...Don't Be Mad at Me Please!

So I just realized that most people that look at my blog are probably pretty angry with me right now...this is all due to my lack of postage of course. Before, I didn't really care about blogging but now that I've been cooped up here at work for longer hours at a time, I make looking at blogs a daily occurance, and I just realized how annoying it is(since I look at blogs everyday now) that it takes people more then just everyday to post something. I don't want to see the same post from yesterday! I want to see another one! Man, selfish me! And here I am and I haven't even posted for 2 months! What's my deal? Now, I bet my mom is reading this and totally agreeing with me on the fact that I don't write enough, but in all honesty, it probably will take me a while to post again. So sorry. My life just isn't that interesting right now. I mean it's interesting...but not enough to post everyday about it. I do the same things over and over again. And then I don't really take pictures everyday and seriously, what is a blog without pictures. You gotta have the pictures. So I guess what I'll try to do is fill you in on the exciting life that I have been leading here in Provo, UT.

I work a lot. I actually don't work that many hours but I work all at night now from 6-9. Sometimes it's brutally long and other times the time just flies on by. I guess it just depends on if I have a lot of homework or not. Here's what my co-workers and I like to do in our free time here at work.

We like to take pictures!!! haha! Yay, I have one of the easiest jobs I think I've ever had in my whole entire life. And when I say jobs, I pretty much mean every task that I've had to complete other then sleeping. Okay, that may sound a little exagerated, probably because it is, but my job seriously is the best. I don't know how I got it...I lucked out big time with this one!

Next! I'm still doing folk dance. In fact, I am the class rep for me team. It's pretty amazing! A boy from my team and I are both class reps together. We plan a lot of the team activities and things like that. Basically, we are the coolest people on the team and everyone looks up to us. Haha.................just kidding. Anyways, we had an opening social activity a few weeks ago and the theme was superheros. So my roommates and I (oh ya, Lanae and Suzanne both made the team this semester, so they are on it with me too), we dressed up like superheros. Lanae was elasta girl from the Incredibles, Suzanne was her own superhero awesomeness, and I was blankey girl. Yes, you read me right...Blankey girl. I wore my afgan blankey around me neck as a cape. Original? Yes! Cool? uh, Kinda? Haha! I had to throw me resources together guys! I'm a poor college student.

Yes, yes, the time has come again for my dear Light friends to join us Light alumni here in Utah. I can't express how much I love that group! They mean so much to me! How long has it been since I haven't been in the group?? And still, nothing has changed! Every time I see them and join them again I feel at home. I feel like I belong. The Filichia's really have done some great things for this group. I love and appreciate them so much! They are such great people...I can't say that enough. Tonight me and my roommates had the opportunity to join Light in a fireside or "a night of inspiration" as Bro. Filichia calls it. Seriously, I haven't felt as good as I did tonight in a long time. Being able to sing with this group again means so much to me. I feel so whole when I sing with them. We are so unified as a group. That's the unique thing about Light...no matter if I know any kids in the group or not, I know I will always feel like I belong. I love that! My heart is so full right now...too full to even express. Sometimes I miss the group so bad that it makes me really sad. But I know that even though we are all going separate ways now that when we get to heaven and can all be together again that we are never going to stop singing together. And then we'll get more people to join and EVERYONE will be one giant Light. That's really what it is that I love about Light; we all have the same desire and that is to come closer to our Heavenly Father. It's just so cool that we get to do it together.

Seriously, this is the coolest thing that has ever happened to me in this lifetime! Okay maybe that was a little bit of an exaggeration, but it gives you an idea of how cool it was. I entered this photo contest here at BYU for my study abroad experience in China a while back. On Thursday I got an email and they told me that I got 2nd place, 3rd place, and FOUR honorable mentions!!!! AWESOME! I will receive a $125 prize. Ya, I know...you all want to be me! $125 for sending in a couple of photos! Now that's what I'm talking about!

We have new pets! Today me and my roommates went to Walmart and got 24 cent goldfish and named them Donnie and Marie. Two peas in a pod that Donnie and Marie. They love each other! And we love them! They are the best pets in the world! I do have to say though that I don't know if Donnie and Marie will ever live up to my former goldfish Mike, but they are still good little pets. Man, it's been ten years almost since I was united with my best goldfish in the world...MIKE! Gotta love that Mike...named after my dad for his birthday present! What a great gift!

Hello all! I don't really know how to brake into this post, so I'm just going to cut to the chase and go straight into things! I love life and I'm glad I'm where I'm at right now! I'm happy I guess you could say. I'm growing in many ways and am doing my best to hang on. It's actually been a whole lot easy for me this semester. I've been able to discipline myself in managing my time more wisely and discipline myself in the activities I participate in. I know how to cook now! Amazing! Who would have thought it be possible! I cook every Saturday for my roommates and my meals have gone splendid if I do say myself. This past week was homecoming week. I love homecoming week. It's fun! I love seeing all the families on campus and the "Y" lite up at night time. Yesterday was the homecoming parade and I got to dance in it with my fellow folk dance friends. It was freezing! I volunteered to help blow up balloons at 7 in the morning for the parade and it definitely snowed while we were blowing them up. Luckly, the snow stopped before the parade started so we didn't have to dance in it. We got really hot and sweaty while we were dancing anyways, so that helped us not to be so cold. I asked Suzanne to take some pictures of me in the parade so I could post them, but the pictures didn't turn out so good. Oh well, I'll post them anyways. Suzanne ended up video taping me and her camera and gave my camera to our friend Karen to take pictures with and she zoomed up a little to close. That's okay, I have the memory engrained in my brains...as well as those dang dances!! Man, I don't think I'll ever want to dance one of those dances as long as I live. We danced them so much yesterday! It was really tiring too! So here are the pictures...

As of late I am still doing very well! I'm still very busy like I said last post, but I love it! I don't think anything too exciting happened to me this past week. Some ol' same ol'. I've been spending a lot of time in the anatomy lab where we finally started working on the cadavers. They aren't as scary as I thought they would be. I got to handle an arm on Friday, which was kind of interesting, but it went rather well. The human body is an amazing thing, that's all I have to say. I don't know how anyone could study the human body and not know that there is a God. God does live and because we have to scriptures we can know that we were created after his own image. It's awesome stuff! So I've had a few requests to post some pictures of my room here, so that's exactly what I'm going to do. It's really not that great, but it suits me. I'm a college student, I don't care what my room looks like. I don't have time to care!!

Hiking the "Y"

Saturday, was a wonderful day! Me and Suzanne woke up bright and early and hiked the "Y". This was a lot better experience then the last time I hiked it, b/c if any of my family members recall, I had a not-so-great date who ditched me while hiking the "Y" last time. Haha, just kidding. No hard feelings toward the poor boy, all is forgiven! I had a good time though this past Saturday! I felt very athletic getting up so early and actually doing something that involved putting on my running shoes. I've decided I better start taking advantage of these things before the snow comes though. It was nice to get up and do something other then school. Sometimes you just have to set aside a little time for yourself, especially here at BYU when school is so hectic crazy!! Oh man, I feel like my days go by so fast b/c every second is filled up with school. Days fly here! Don't get me wrong though, I love it! That's just my personality I guess, I hate not having something to do. Ya, so sorry I haven't kept up with my blog. It's been crazy! But life is great! I'm learning a lot about life and school. Dance is going great! I dance for five hours or more everyday! Gotta love it! I do though, I really do! I'm getting better everyday. Some days I feel like it comes slower then other days, but I know it will all pay off in the end. I miss my family too! I hope all is well with my family where ever you may be! You guys are the bomb! Summer Projects

I've been working on a few projects this summer. Just something to do with my time, you know. I've racked my brain all summer of things to do and these are just a couple of the things I came up with. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I was making a quilt. Well I finished that (what an accomplishment for me!! I'll always remember the day I tackled the sewing machine, every time I hop into my newly covered bed!). I also made a cool bulletin board to put some of mine and Suzanne's pictures on for our new room at school. I feel very happy about the turn out on these two items that I wanted to post about them. My favorite part of the bulletin board was my idea to put the foreign coins on as the buttons. Yah, I thought I was pretty clever. So that's all I wanted to say...until next time. Don't worry people! I haven't died! I survived the Earthquake in China, I'm not going anywhere! Now that you know that I'm not dead, you probably think I'm the worst blogger ever. That very well may be true, but I'm here to redeem myself! I haven't let you people down! So I just decided I'm just going to start fresh and new. I'll update a little about the past couple of months, but I'm not really into sitting here for ages writing every single detail that has happened so I'll just give a brief overview and start new. Deal? Deal!!
Alright, here goes nothing...
So I got back from China about a month and a half ago. An opportunity of a lifetime? I'll say so! It came complete with an earthquake! How cool is that?! It was rockin'! Haha, get it Rockin'?! Okay maybe that wasn't one of my finest jokes, but it worked. Seriously though, I had a good time! Even with the earthquake! That didn't ruin my sense of fun. It did for a few days, but I got back on track once I left the city. I turned out okay in the end; no bumps of bruises. The people in the epicenter weren't as lucky as I was though. It was such a devistating destruction. So sad! A recent count has said that over 80,000 people have died from the earthquake. I will tell you that at the time the earthquake happened, I too was afraid of death, but we made it out a lot luckier than the people at the epicenter did. The area that I was in was a richer area, where the buildings were built a lot stronger than was at the epicenter. Our buildings were atleast built to withstand a 7.9 earthquake whereas at the epicenter the buildings collapsed within 5 seconds of the earthquake happening. It was a 8.0 earthquake and by the time it got to us (60 miles away) it was a 7.5. Pretty crazy stuff if you ask me! I can't believe I was there, and so close too! I loved the people there though! I've never met a kinder people before in my life! They are such good hosts. They are so thoughtful too! Seriously, it may be hard to think that a whole people could be like that, but it's true. It's just their culture. They are all so loving, kind, and caring. They are truly a Christ-like people. They are so ready for the gospel there. I loved my time there!!! Like I said, I could spend ages here telling my stories, but I don't want to be here forever and plus I think you guys might get a little board reading. Maybe I'll post later stories of my adventures in China.
So life here in the Mesa eh?? It's been good! I like being home, but it's getting harder and harder trying to find productive things to do with my time. I don't have a job so that's one time filler upper I have to find. Mostly I just spend my time doing things that I can help out with or perfect my talents and abilities with in any way shape or form. I babysit a lot for the fam, I made a quilt (which is almost done by the way and I'm super stoked to use it as my new bed spread at college; I think I'll forever be filled with accomplishment when I look at it b/c then I will remember the time I defeated the sewing machine and stuck with the job which I never have done before. I always leave sewing projects unfinished.), I play the piano a lot, read a lot (I first started reading a book about the second coming called "The Coming of Our Lord". Geez I wonder what got me thinking about the second coming?! It's really good though and I recommend it. My mom recommended it to me. I also got drug into the Twilight series by my mom and sisters. We are attending the Barnes and Nobles book opening party for the 4th book this Friday. What can I say, we are a bunch of junkies. I'm only a little bit more than half way through the first book right now, but it's definately my new frenzy right now.), I hang out with my friends a lot (they've recently hooked me on the "So you think you can Dance" episodes every Wednesday and Thursday and we watch them together), ummm and I do a bunch of other things too that I can't think of right now. I don't really want to boar you with anymore details, so I'll let it be for now. Now I'll just post some pictures from China because what would a blog be like without any pictures??? Well I'll fill you in some other time with my grand life story and hopefully I can keep up with this thing.

I just finished my first final of the semester...LDS History. I'm going to miss that class! Not only was it interesting, but it was easy too!! All I had to do was take tests in that class...no papers, no assignments, just class and tests. I have two more finals and then I'm off for home on Monday night! Yessss! I'll be home for a week and then I'm off for China! Well basically I don't have anything else to say. That's all that's going on in my mind right now. Me and Suzanne have been studying like crazy though the past couple of days, but when we need to take a break we like laughing at dumb things together...maybe because we are so brain dead. Will somebody please tell us if you think this picture is as funny as we think it is right now.

My Most Recent Life

Okay, I'm going to be quick because I have a lot of homework to do, but I just wanted to write something. I just got home from work and my back hurts really bad from standing all day, but it all good! I got to pour the smoothies today which is like the best part of the whole job! Well actually maybe not, maybe I just think that because I've been stuck back at the juices and drop box this whole time I've been there. Well anyways, that's really cool huh? I bet you all cared to know that. Yesterday I did it!! I tried out for young ambassadors!! It was really scary guys! You guys know how long I've wanted to be in young ambassadors and finally the time has come! Well I guess you could say I did the best I could with all my nerves going on and everything. I don't think I'll make call backs, but I did my best and just had fun! It was a good experience and I'm so glad that I went. It will help a lot for next year when I try out. It was a lot of fun though. I had fun even though I knew I probably wouldn't make it. So ya, I'll try out next year and hopefully do better. Ummmm...I had my folk dance performance last week. It was a lot of fun! Suzanne, Becky, and Lanae all came and saw me perform, and now they want to try out for the team. I'm sooooo excited! That would be awesome if we were all on the same team! It would be like Light all over again! I miss Light! Oh, ya that reminds me...at young ambassador try outs I got to see 5 old friends from Light that came up from Arizona to try out. That was so much fun! I got to hang out with them all yesterday! Well I have to go now because I have to get back to my stuff. I just wanted to tell you guys that I tried out! I posted some pictures of my folk dance performance also. Enjoy!

Still Don't Know What To Say...

Once again, I don't know what to say, so I'm just going to say whatever I feel like it okay?! I had a good week this past one. Like I said, on Monday I was involved in the Spring Sing singing Zippidee-doo-dah...ya that's a funny story! Well I guess you could say that it was a lot bigger then I thought it would be. Let's put it this way, my whole stake came and filled up the whole De Jong Concert Hall. It was crazy! And my ward was a little unorganized and we didn't know what we were doing so we kind of just threw something together real fast. All these wards had these big skits planned but we didn't really know what we were doing. All is well though family and friends! It all turned out okay in the end. Disney Idol went great! I threw together a quick little costume in the bathroom (I found some eyeliner and penciled in some feckles and blacked my tooth out and put in some pig tails) and I got up on stage and did my thang. It was rather funny in the end. I won the contest too so I felt rather good about my performance, and I got a good report from the "Judge" which was sweet! Anyways, that was fun. Then I came home and we had a party for Suzanne, so it wasn't likely that I was going to even START on my 8 page paper that was due on Wednesday, so I started it on Tuesday...and spent 13 long hours on it straight! Good times, good times! That's the most exciting things that happened to me this week. This weekend I stayed home from St. George (all my roommates pranced off with some friends in the ward and went there) so I could write my talk. I still had fun without them don't worry. I did some dishes by myself, I danced around by myself, I cooked for myself, I laughed by myself...okay, it was no fun without them. I missed them a lot. It was good though because I had some quality time to spend alone with myself and write my talk, which by the way went really good! I learned a lot about the topic. I really want to learn more about it so I think I'm going to take a class here about the life of the Savior (maybe New Testiment you think?). I like church history and religious history stuff a lot! I think I'm going to go far with that kind of stuff. Like I love my LDS History class that I have here with Susan Black! She's amazing! I want to be just like her when I grow up. Except I think that would be impossible since I don't have a photo copy memory like she does. Geez, that woman remembers everything! Well anyways, that's my life story for this week. What to Say???

I don't really have much to say here other then I felt like I should say something b/c I haven't posted for a while! I'll just give a little 4-1-1 of my life right now! I just got home from church like 30 minutes ago and just found out I'm giving a talk next week in church! On Easter SUNDAY! This is great, just great! I'm really excited to learn about my topic though which is The Last Week of Jesus Christ. I was lucky enough to get to choose my topic first b/c I was spoken to first. Niiiiiiice! I could have chosen the topic of the resurrection instead and I did at first but you all know how indecisive I am and I switched it. Good choice on my part because now I get to speak first. I chose the one I did because I didn't know as much about it and it seemed like I could learn a lot from it. Well anyways, that's next Sunday. Tomorrow I get to look forward to finishing an essay (Humanities essay...it's been very difficult to get myself to write this, but I've done a lot more then half now), celebrating Suzie's b-day (we're taking her out to breakfast at 12:00 AM and I'm making her a green jello thing in a few minutes for her cake b/c her b-day is on St. Patrick's Day), and singing in the stake Spring Sing (It's a Disney theme and it's kind of like American Idol but it's Disney Idol and I'm singing "Zip-pidie-Do-Dah!". Very cool!). I'm looking forward to another week of fun filled learning here at BYU, writing essays, reading books, extending my knowledge, you know. I just got a new job at Jamba Juice everyone!!! I'm raising money for China! Woo hoo! I get free smoothies every time I work. Speaking of China, I'm very excited to go still! We started our Chinese Cultural prep class that I have to take and it's getting me more and more pumped! Everyone!! We get to teach the Chinese students there how to tap!! Cool huh?!?! We are doing a dance exchange with the Chinese. We'll learn some Chinese dances and they'll learn American dances and I think me or someone else will teach them the Shim Sham which is like the Tap Dance National Anthem. I'm stoked b/c I love tap! It's probably my favorite kind of dance! Yes, it is awesome! Well anyways I'm going to go make the jello/cake thing for Suz. I don't really have any good pictures of me doing cool things these past week so I'll just take one right now and show you what I look like.

I figured I haven't let you guys in on very many of our escapades as of late so I decided to post about this one. This was a good one! Last night we had stake conference and after it was over we were all in really restless, like we had been sitting at stake conference for two hours moods. So we came home and we were very hyper and excited to PLAY!! We went and got some buddies and made a fort right smack in the middle of our living room! It was saweeet!! We took the cushions off our couch and tipped our couches on their sides and draped blankets over them. We then put capes on and pretended like we were super heros and ran around Wyview saving the community, but that's another story! Alright maybe it's not another story, it just sounds cool when I say it that way. We just ran around Wyview in bare feet and capes making videos with Suzanne's video camera. It was really cool! We are such freshmen...and I love every minute of it!!!!! Savor it why I can!!! We did make some pretty sweet videos though! I wish I could put them on here but I can't!! Maybe I'll let you guys see it sometime when I see you...if your lucky! This is pretty sacred stuff here that me and Suzanne our compiling on her camera! We are going to create a video with all our best college memories on it and give one to each other! But it won't be out for a while! We still have to make more memories!!

I'm Going To China People!!

I don't know who knows about this, but I applied for a study abroad program back in the beginning of December. This study abroad program is a dance program in China and will take place during the Spring term of this year! I went through an interview process a couple weeks ago and since then I've been waiting to hear back. Well it's been a long hard wait, but now I know! I received word yesterday that I GOING! Woo hoo! I'm going to be doing mostly modern dance while I'm there. I will learn Chinese Folk Dance stuff and Tai Ji also. Most of the course work will take place in Beijing and Chengdu cities. We are going to leave April 27th and be back on June 14th! I'm stoked! I'm really excited to get to know a new culture and everything and have the experiences I'm going to have. It's going to be sweet! I'm going to soak every last second up while I'm there because I know time will probably fly while I'm there. I'm kind of nervous too! It's going to be really good for me though...help broaden my horizons.

Folk Dance Social

Last Wednesday was our folk dance get to know everyone social. Since a lot of us are new this semester, it was really fun to meet all the new people and meet people from different teams. The theme for this social was Pirates (hence the picture). I don't know why it was pirates; you'd think it would be something folky, but it was a lot of fun anyways! We had dinner and a treasure hunt. I have a really fun team and I'm real excited to continue to get to know everyone better. I took World dance last semester which is just a folk dance class and it was a lot of fun, minus the fact that there was only 3 boys in our class and I had to dance the guys' part more then half the time. That's what makes the folk dance team so much better...I don't have to play a guy's role!

Oh man! There is so much to say here but so little time! I would like to share with you, my family members, the best music video ever made (actually, this is mostly directed toward Liza, but you guys can watch it too because it is just that great!). Well anyways, as many of you know, today is Martin Luther King Day, and...we had no school! So I mean, watcha gunna do? Sit home and make music videos all day?? chAAAAA!! Of course we did that. Actually we only made two music videos but we danced around dramatically a lot today. It was a lot of fun! It was GOLD (Yes, I did say Gold just in case you were thinking I meant Cold but it is cold here too). This music video features AJ (Suzanne Tutt) and Kevin (Mary Vance) from the Backstreet Boys. This song is from their 2005 album "Never Gone" and the song is titled "Incomplete" just in case you are more familiar with their Millenium stuff. This song is a classic along with their song "I Want It That Way". Oh, ya...sorry about how dark it is! I just wanted to let you all know that even though I look like a ganglely girl in this video, I actually have a a mustache and beard drawn on if that helps you to envision it better. I'd like to dedicate this video to my family, Mom, Dad, Christina, Waylon, Annie, Drew, Liza, Scott, Zach, Whitney, Andrew, and Alyssa! I love ya guys! (Mom, how do I get a private blog site?!?! This Sunday we had a neighbor Dinner! It was sooooo gooood! It's amazing what a bunch of college students can whip up! I was surprised! I think we should enter some kind of contest or something like that because it was so good. Sam made the roast and gravy, Suz made some rolls, Me and Suz made homemade mashed potatoes, Lanae made the drink and brownies, Megan brought the fruit, and I made the jello (this is the very yummy jello that mom makes at Thanksgiving and Christmas by the way...the one with the pretzels...you know?!). Oh how wonderful it tasted to my tastebuds! Especially since I've been living off of hot pockets and corndogs! Owwww...sooo good! Well anyways, thought you'd be interesting in hearing about what I eat :-), you know cuz it's just so appealing! I think I need to do this every Sunday now!

Mary, the New Folk Dancer

On Wednesday I went to folk dance team try outs and I made it!! I was so excited, I couldn't stop smiling! In the fall, I had tried out for the team but I didn't even make call backs, so this time when they pulled me out and told me I made call backs, I didn't care if I made the team or not. I was just so excited that I made call backs because at least it was one step higher then the last time. Well anyways, I ended up making it and I'm really excited! I finally made something here at BYU! Yay!! I had my first practice on Friday and it was a lot of fun! I can't wait until I get good enough to be on the tour team! That's going to be sweet! The folk dance team here is sooooo good! They are highly ranked throughout the nation! Folk dance is surprisingly really fun! It sounds dumb (trust me that first time I heard about it I was like, "Oh that sounds interesting") but it is really cool!! Haha, I have a funny story about when I tried out. So at try outs I had to bring a boy to dance with, whether they were trying out or not, and I couldn't find one that I thought would really be interested in doing it because like I said, it doesn't sound that appealing especially to a boy. Well I ended up asking this boy in my ward that I thought would do it even though he didn't want to. On the way over I explained to him what was going to go on. I told him that he didn't need to have any experience because they would teach it all to us when we got there, and all he needed to do was dance with me for the first twenty minutes and when they split the boys from the girls, he could leave. Well as we were walking up the stairs we saw a flyer for the tryouts and I was like "See, you don't need to have any experience" (I thought this might help him because he was getting kind of nervous) but then further down of the flyer it said that the girls needed to bring a boy who WAS trying out. This made him even more nervous because he didn't want to try out, he was just there to help me out. I quickly pulled him away from the flyer and reassured him that the flyer was wrong because I had talked to a member of the folk dance team earlier that day and she said that my partner didn't have to be trying out. Well, we got there and we danced and it was fun. He mostly was just laughing the whole time because he was nervous and I think he felt dumb. When the time came for the boys and the girls to be split up he just stayed and went with the other boys because he didn't want to leave me here without a ride. Later, when I found out I made call backs and after he was done learning the dances with the boys, I went over to the boys room to tell him and he goes "Man, that was a lot of fun! I didn't think I would like something like that. I think I'm going to try out for it when I get home from my mission!" So I thought that that was pretty funny. I didn't think that he would like something like that either! I'm glad he did like it though! It made me feel better about inviting him to go with me.

Froo Froo Held Hostage?!?!

Today me and Suzanne went to Christmas Around the World (it is a show that the Folk dance team puts on here) and while we were gone, Sam decided to go over to Lanae and Becky's apartment next door and left our front door unlocked. When she came back to the apartment, she found a ransom note on our door for our pet flamingo Froo Froo. As you may recall from earlier posts of mine, Froo Froo is the wicker flamingo that we have in our living room...he's kind of like out mascot. Well anyways, when me and Suz got home and heard this terrible news that Froo Froo had been kidnapped, we got down to business. There was no joking around here, we were going to find him and get him back. So we dressed up like spies and went a lookin'. We made up spy names. Suzanne was Natasha, Sam was Lila, and I was Suda. Well, we have yet to find our poor little friend Froo Froo, but we will find him! Whatever it takes, we WILL find him. So a little bit about our adventure tonight before I close off this post...we thought it was our FHE brothers that stole Froo Froo, so we decided to steal something of theirs as an incentive for them to give us Froo Froo back. But before we could do this, we had to do a little planning of our own. We were so sneaky!! So Sam and Suzanne ran into our FHE brother's apartment screaming and yelling at them telling them to give Froo Froo back, and while they were creating this little diversion, I crept in and stole their Nintendo...it was smooooooth! Well we later found out it wasn't them who stole it, so we gave them their Nintendo back, but we did make a ransom note for it so you will be able to see that in one of the pictures we took. Interesting stuff that's going on here I tell ya...I wonder who did it?

Yesterday when I came home (I just home from Baltimore) I walked in to find Christmas joy sitting right on my living room floor!! Over the brake Sam's Mom had bought us a $10 Christmas tree and some ornaments (What a wonderful lady) from Walgreens. We were so excited for our new tree that we just jumped right into our Christmas decorating!! It's such a fun activity and it really takes a load off your mind (if anyone is ever wondering how to be stress-free then just decorate a Christmas tree...it works...trust me!). I think we decorated for 5 hrs.! Great fun I tell ya! When I got my camera out to take pictures, I found out it didn't work anymore so I had to take pictures with my computer and that's not really the easiest thing to do! So sorry about the tight pictures...couldn't really fit that much in the pictures with my little camera! I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!

This morning, very early...like 1:30 early...we got a knock at our door from our FHE brothers! They were all in their brand new, and might I add very soft, robes that they had just bearly bought at Wal-Mart! They were so proud and wanted to show them off...so they came over. It was so funny! They brought us chocolate and we joined in on the fun by putting on our own robes and having a robe party. Once it reached too late for them to be in our apartment anymore, we took our robe party over to Taco Bell. In some of these pictures you will be able to get a little hint of what our adventure was like. I love my FHE brothers!! haha! I'm sorry if all my adventures here are "you have to be there" type of things, but that's all I have! I'm sorry...I hope you enjoy them anyways because I know I do! Haha!

Inspiration!!!!

This morning was such a beautiful morning! It was cloudy (which I love) and it was just so great! So I kind of had a little inspiration from my next door neighbor Megan. I had woken up earlier then Sam (Suzanne's not here this weekend by the way. She went home for her grandma's funeral) so after I had already gotten ready for the day and Sam still wasn't awake, I decided to go visit the neighbors. Megan was the only one awake there so I sat and talked to her for a while. She showed me her sketch book (she wants to be a computer animator) and that's where the inspiration began! I wanted to draw...so I went back to my dorm and whipped out a pencil and paper...I didn't know what to draw though. Right as I thought that I looked out my window and there was the most picturesque scene I have ever beheld!!!! It was the playground and the huge tree outside my dorm. It was so pretty though because there was leaves everywhere! I loved it! It was quite romantic actually! And I was in a romantic mood, so I took my party outside on the park bench right next to the playground and tried drawing the scene I saw. It was fun! I get a great satisfaction in doing the arts! It was so relaxing! I think that's why I like singing and dancing so much! It's an art! Gotta love it!

Right at this very moment me and good ol' Krisit Jackson are sitting outside on the grass on the GREAT BYU CAMPUS!! We weren't in a very studious mood so after our physical science class that we just had together we decided to plop ourselves outside on the grass and chill. We have two classes together, so maybe we'll get some studying done together out here. I'm really excited right now because I totally get internet connection. It's awesome!! We are sitting right next to the SWKT (Spencer W. Kimbell Tower)! That's probably why I'm getting such good connection. So I'll just take this time to show you guys a little bit of the scenery. It's really pretty up here right now and it feels so nice! "All you need is a light jacket!" (Name that movie!) So from these pictures you can see all the pretty leaves!! I love the leaves! One day on the way home from choir me and Sam (my room mate) and Becky Barney (friend from back home) saw a bunch of leaves and we spontaneously had a leaf war! It was really fun! This picture explains my mood today! I feel just dandy! Happy as a school girl! Let me tell you why...my 2nd surgery that I've been dreading all week is over! Yay! I was so nervous when I went to the doctor today because I actually knew what was coming this time! But I did fantastic! It was great! I didn't even cry! I was biting my finger extra hard though which did help with taking the pain away from my toe. So I'm just happy that's over. The doctors said they don't know what's wrong with my toe though because it's not healing like they thought it would. They said that what they originally thought the infection was from was not it anymore, so they don't know now. Ah! Scary! They gave me some more antibiotics though so hopefully it will be okay. I don't want to get my toe chopped off. That would be an unpleasant experience. Anyways, all is well in this area for right now. Hopefully this is the last I have to blog about my toe.

A Few of the FHE Buds

So tonight for FHE, we realized we didn't have anything planned, so what we did is those who wanted to (which was probably about only 1/4 of our group...haha actually it was me, Suzanne, Sam, and two of our brothers) came over to our place while we tried brainstorming ideas of what to do. This didn't work out so well so we just took out my computer and started taking pictures. That's how we spent our FHE tonight. It was a wonderful idea on my part...actually thanks to the blog because I probalby wouldn't have thought to take pictures if I didn't have the blog on my mind! It was fun!

Update On The Toe

On Wednesday I went back to the doctor to get my toe checked up on. This wasn't a very pleasant experience either!! Geez, I'm never going to want to go back to the doctors after this is done. So I sat down and the conversation started out the same as it did last time...he asked me if I was alergic to any anesthetics and I told him no again. I wondered what he was asking me this for because I already had my surgery! The nurse then handed me the same clipboard and paper and told me to sign it to give the doctor permission to take out a little sliver of my toe nail. I then began to think that they were mistaken and they had thought that they had never done the surgery on me, so I said "Oh you already did that last week". The nurse then informed me that they had to do it again to kill the roots!!! I immediately began freaking out because I didn't want the doctor to stick me with the needle again because IT HURTS, but the doctor then took off my bandaid and took one look at my toe and said my toe had a "hot infection" still and that I needed to come back next week for the surgery. Ahhhh!! Scary! I don't want to go back! Oh well, it will get me out of my comfort zone (which is something that we've been learning a lot about in choir...we are required to do something every few weeks that will get us out of our comfort zone and then to write about it). The doctor wrapped my toe up in a big wad of gauze and then gave me some stuff to soak my toe in to help the infection go down. He told me to soak the whole toe even with the gauze on it and especially at night...so that's what my pictures are of. I have to wear a bag over my foot at night so I don't get my bed all wet from the wet gauze. haha! We joke around about it here.

Late Night Cravings

So tonight me and Suzanne had a little craving...baked beans!! Ahhhh yaaaaah! This is another example of one of our random adventures that we have had here that we just laugh our heads off about. We just had a craving for baked beans at 10:30 tonight, so we went to the Creamery and got some...that's all I have to say really, but it was funny...we thought so anyways...haha! Especially since that was all we went in to the Creamery for...a can of beans...and then we left! The kid that works there is getting to know me and Suzanne really well now since we come in for little things like this all the time now. Well anyways, we got home cooked them and found out they didn't satisfy our cravings as much as we thought they would...they weren't very good. To make me feel better though Suzanne told me she's going to make me some of her "Papa's beans" (as she calls them) some time. It's her Grandpa's secret recipe! Woo hoo!

Sleepy Suzie????

So this is a great story! Haha! Maybe not so great actually...I think it's one of those "you have to have been there" times...but it was sooooo funny! So on Saturday night me and Sam went to our FHE brothers' dorm to watch "Clue" and Suzanne stayed home to do some homework. When we got home we came across Suzanne like this! It was hilarious!! Maybe we are just sleep deprived up here but me and Sam found this really really funny! We especially liked her apparel...the socks...the robe...the pants! Such a great combination! I would have posted these earlier but it took me a while to convince Suzanne to let me post them. So we took pictures while she was sleeping and while we were doing it Suzanne kinda woke up and started talking mean to us in her sleep...it was really funny because she didn't know what she was saying and we knew she didn't. Poor Suzanne's kind of had a rough sleeping experience here. Haha! She seems to fall asleep every where! It's quite funny acutally! We can always count on her falling asleep in Music class (which is a funny sight since I sit next to her everyday and look over at her with her head back and her mouth open!). Also another funny experience...so she comes home everyday and takes a nap and on Monday she fell asleep on the couch and like 3 people came to the door all at different times and she answered it all three times but she said she can hardly remember doing it!! She said that all she remembers is people laughing at her! It was funny! We laugh about this stuff all the time!

A Weekend Full of "Light"

I had the best weekend ever!! I wish it could happen more often! The performing group I was involved with back home ("Light") came up to Utah this weekend to put on a benefit concert in Spanish Fork, Utah, and I had the chance to see them perform and spend the whole day with them at Lagoon on Saturday. It was a blast! I miss those guys soooo sooo much! This group was my life throughout high school. I loved it! It was the best experience of my life thus far. I don't even know if the words I say could ever help someone understand the wonderful times that I had in Light. It was just a great great experience. There is just so much love and happiness that radiate from the kids in the group and especially from our director and his family. I love them so much! The Filichia's (that is the director and his family) do so much for the group. They are some of the finest people I have ever met. They are so loving and I feel so much a part of their family when I'm around them just because that's the kind of people they are. When I first saw Sister Filichia on Friday, I ran and gave her a big hug and we just started crying together. I was so excited to see her and Light! The benefit concert that was going on that night was dedicated to the Filichia's son Tim Filichia Jr. who just recently passed away in a car accident on his way back from Arizona to BYU. Their son was one of the greatest guys I knew and I'm so happy for him now because I know he's in a much better place right now doing a much greater work then he could have ever done here on this earth, but it just hurts me so much to see the Filichia's in so much pain. I love that family so much! Well anyways I had a great time this weekend and loved seeing my friends! It was a lot of fun. I even got to be in the traditional music video that Light makes every year. I felt like I was part of the group again!! The first picture is a picture of me and Whitney Dawe who is a girl from Spanish Fork that hosted me one year when I came up with Light. Surgery??? WHAT?!?!?!

So today...haha...I went to the doctors for an infected toe that I just recently got. Well I guess it all started Saturday. After I got done playing in the snow, I came in and took off my shoes and socks and I noticed a blister by my big toe nail. I thought it was an odd place to have a blister, but I didn't really think much of it especially since it didn't hurt. Well Monday morning I woke up to it throbbing and it was really big, so right then I decided that it must be infected. I called the doctor to get an appointment and they set it for today at one. So today, I went in not think much about the whole thing and right as I get in they set me down in the chair and the doctor goes..."You aren't allergic to any kind of numbing medicine are you?" I told him no and I still didn't think much about it. Next the nurse has me sign a paper giving the doctor permission to take a "little" sliver of my toe nail out...still, didn't think much of it. After the doctor lays me back in the chair so I couldn't see what he was doing he say, "Okay, this may hurt a little" and I just said "Okay" STILL not thinking anything of it. Oh man!! It was the most pain I've ever been in my life! haha! That just goes to show you how much pain I've been exposed to in my life. I immediately knew what he had been hiding behind my feet. It was a needle!!! Ahhhh! Good thing he didn't show me or I might have flipped out and just decided to live off Advil the rest of my life! I don't think anyone knows my fear of needles better than my mom does...but that's story for another day haha! Anyways, after that was all done and I had stopped crying (I admit it okay...I did let a few tears slip...IT REALLY HURT THOUGH!!...It was kind of a laugh cry so the doctor didn't feel awkward), all I could feel was pressure on my toe and that was it. Then he bandaged it up and the nurse told me that I did good in my surgery. Ahhhhh...I had a surgery and I didn't even know it was going to happen. I'm never going back to the doctors again!!! haha!

A Faulty Prank

Late Saturday night, possibly early Sunday morning, (right after the snow) I walked into the living room due to some disturbing noises that I heard at the door. It kind of scared me at first, but I immediately realized that it was just someone hanging out by our door. But what were they doing? So I opened up the door to find Benjamin and Sam from our FHE group caught in the midst of a prank that they were trying to pull on us. Haha! Suckers!! They were trying to block our door by piling snow up in front of it!!!! I couldn't believe it! They seemed liked such nice boys too! Haha just kidding! Because the door was wide open though, the snow fell into our apartment. I made them get it out, while I took pictures of them for my blog (it's funny how that was my first thought..."I GOTTA TAKE PICTURES FOR THE BLOG!!") Well anyways, they assured me that it still was going to happen even though I had caught them. So then I assured back to them that THIS WAS WAR!! In the morning we woke up to the snow piled in front of our door. We never got to see the full affect though because half of it fell over in the night and all we saw in the morning was the bottom half in front of our door and the top half on the ground broken up. Haha! It was funny though! So does anyone have any ideas?

The weather here in Utah is so weird! Let me tell ya! So yesterday night I posted pictures of us at the Halloween party. The whole night the weather was fine. It wasn't even cold. Me and Suzanne were walking around in just our costumes the whole time and we were fine. So this morning we woke up and it was as cold as could be. We had heard it was going to rain (this really wasn't that big of a shocker though since it has rained here almost every Saturday since we've been here), but we got something a lot different then rain. It SNOWED! It was awesome!!! It actually snowed on Wednesday night as well, but this snow stuck today. It was sweet! I wish I knew how to post some of the videos I took with my camera because those actually do the snow a lot more justice then what the pictures do. It was so much fun. We all ran outside when we realized it was snowing and just played and played. It was some narley snowflakes out there tonight!

Ward Halloween PARTAAA!!!

Tonight was the Ward Halloween Party! It was so much fun! I took a ton of pictures because of my new calling as the ward publicity co-chairman, so here are a few of them. Me and Suzanne went as Wilma and Betty from the Flintstones. It wasn't always going to be that way though. We were planning on being Jesse and Kelly from Saved by the Bell, but then we got to thinking that we might have a better chance of winning best costumes if we were actually somebody that people would recognize. Well we didn't win the best costumes because we arrived late and they were just starting to announce them as we entered the doors, but we still had a lot of fun doing it! AND it was only $4 for our costumes. We went to Walmart and bought some cheapie sheets and some hair spray dye, and we were set. It was awesome! In some of the pictures you will see some of the different costumes that were worn at the party. My favorite are Vicky and Daniel who were sporting a gothic punk look tonight. Ya, it was pretty freaky. I did Vicky's hair for her. Vicky's my next door neighbor by the way. She's Lanae and Becky's roommate. She was really excited about this one.

Conference Weekend!!

So this weekend we were visited by our bestest friends Lauren Olson, Lauren Sandburg, and Sarah Allen, AND Sarah's mom of course. We were REUNITED!! They drove up here all Friday and from there it has been non stop partying! I realized how much I've missed my friends when they came up here and we were all together! It was so much fun!! "I LOVE OUR FRIENDS!" That's what we've been saying all weekend to each other (it's an inside joke... and that's another story). Haha, Man, I really do love my friends though. We've had some good times! I hope we never lose touch, but I guess that happens sometimes. I DON'T WANT IT TO THOUGH!!! We devised an email plan before they left though and told each other that we are going to write to each other every Sunday and tell each other a little bit about our week. Just like a paragraph or something like that, but I hope that we are able to do that. They just left like an hour and a half ago, and let me tell ya...there were many sad tears. We all cried! It was so sad!! Jessa started us and then it was me and then it was Sarah and then Lauren and then everyone else. It was a chain reaction! Haha! And then we all started laughing. haha! It was funny! Sam's Had a Birthday Shout Hooray!!

So...Last Monday was Sam's birthday! We stayed up unto 12:01 AM on Monday and celebrated! Here's some of the pictures we took! Typical late night party...but then there was cupcakes! Sam let us have some of her cupcakes that her parents sent her for her birthday, so we had a little fun with those. Our neighbors Lanae and Becky came over to celebrate also. They were friends from back home.

I told my dearest Mommy that I would post these pictures so she had the joy of seeing what me and my roomates do every night before we go to bed and here it is!!!!! Haha! Actually we don't do this every night....just every other night! Or whenever we get slap happy, which happens quite often here because of the lack of sleep that we get. Oh man! This was great fun! So how it happened...being a BYU student, it is almost required to have a facebook (which is something sort of similar to the whole blogging system) to be considered "in with the crowd" as you might call it because EVERYONE here has one. So in most of our down time you will either find me, Suzanne, or Sam on our facebook looking at other people's facebooks, looking at pictures, leaving comments to our friends, and, mine and Suzanne favorite, taking the movie quizzes (yessss!). So it was a night quite like this and Suzanne decided to take the Princess Bride movie quiz and it all went down hill from there. Suzanne found this really funny picture of the 3 guys for Princess Bride and we both laughed our head off, then we printed it out and put it on our wall and labeled them "Mary, Sam, and Suzanne". And then we got the bright idea to dress up like them and take pictures of ourselves (Oh, the crazy things you do in college when you are board and have nothing to do). It was rather humorous! We had to stuff my cheeks full of cotton balls and my shirt full of other shirts to make me look bigger, Sam drew a mustache (which is pretty obvious), and Suzanne put some nilons over her head. Shhhhhhh...don't tell them I posted these!

An Unexpected Visit

This morning I woke up to an early phone call from Annie saying that she was in town and wanted to come visit me. These are the pictures that we took after out little chat that we had. Vance was obviously quite intrigued by the flamingo and kept exclaiming that it bit him! I had to get some pictures with him and the flamingo b/c it seems that every kid that comes over to our dorm loves our dear little friend Froo Froo. Samantha had some family over who brought their kids and Denmark and Addie came over too when Liza was here for her visit, and they were all exstatic about Froo Froo. It's pretty funny!

Heart Attack Me Captain!!

This Monday and Tuesday were two of our across the dorm neighbors' birthdays so me and Suz decided to heart attack their door. We decorated their door, hurried up and took a picture, knocked, ran to our dorm, and watched from the peep hole. I felt very sneeky! It was fun! Here's the picture we took...it was so great!

BYU vs. Air Force (Homecoming Game)

What can I say? It was a good game....the Cougars played amazing and WON! Woo hoo! Yes, that is my school! Cougars ROCK! Me, Suzanne, Jessa, and Jessa's roomate Robyn have season tickets right next to each other. It's great fun!

College Dorm Life

Me and Suzanne (my friends from back home and my roomate) decided after we got here and everything was all set up and put away in our new dorm, that our apartment was pretty plain. So being the college students we are, with very few dollars, decided to go down to the dollar store and buy some decor to spice things up a bit. These are just some of the pictures that we took after we proudly admired our newly decorated living room and kitchen. It's not much but we enjoyed doing it. I almost like it better b/c I can admire the work that we put into it b/c the dollar store isn't exactly the IKEA of Utah. It took us much time and energy to figure out what we could throw together with all the stuff that we saw there at the dollar store and this is what we came up with. We even made our own picaso finger painting. I'm sure it will be worth a fortune some day b/c IT IS THAT GOOD! Our other roomate Sam (who is featured in some of the pictures) helped us create that beautiful masterpiece. Also you will see Suzanne with our wonderful vegetable platter that we snaged at the ward party (it was a leftover!)
